Autumnal hues

Autumnal hues

Autumnal hues by caitlinbanton featuring The Cambridge Satchel Company

Caitlin:

So suddenly winter has come all too quickly upon us, the days colder and the evenings darker although it seems as though i've only blinked and the seasons changed, with my brain still feeling as though it's in August. How has the time flown?! As the season has changed so has gradually my wardrobe, becoming darker and increasing in layers, the colour palette merging to an abundance of black with highlights of oxblood, cobalt blues and... tartan. I think I currently have a love affair with tartan. I have been trying to draw myself away from black  and tartan seems to be the answer. I seem to have began to live in just black ensembles and as safe as it is, it's not too lively and I need to remind myself halloween is over, so should stop dressing so morbid and using that as an excuse. Im looking forward to playing with splashes of colours and metallic hints to add a bit of fun to an outfit, an unexpected accent to add interest to a look. Another aspect i have been lusting over at the moment is textures: leathers, feathers,PVC and jewels. Individually using the fabrics or combining a few at once - why not, you never know it could work.

chasing rubies, chasing gold

I promise you that Alyna and I didn't purposely coordinate our outfits - it's not a weekly Tartan Trouser Thursday tradition or anything.

When i first bought these trousers I thought they were kind of crazy, but now they seem a bit tame - I want some neon! However, I still played it quite safely, just pairing them with a plain shirt and a statement chunky chain. And obviously, i had to through in my fave black studded boots (don't think I could live without them) and relatively unneeded trusty jacket because look, it's sunny!

Alyna:

Today I decided to wear my furred maroon camel coat with my dark blue checker pattern trousers and gold chained necklace from Topshop. I felt like I should be more colourful when choosing my outfit choice, since i pretty much stick with darks colours which consist of blacks, blacks and more black .... Ohh maybe a hint of red now and then. But this outfit is a slow step forward.

since I last saw you I fell down the rabbit hole

Caitlin:
Today was that horrible day,the one where you have to set the alarm in the morning again and wake up even before the birds, then to drag yourself pretty much totally asleep through the cold to endure an exciting full day of lessons. Yay!
The stupid time I woke up and my lack of motivation for what lay during the day ahead, I ended up in this outfit, looking very... casual. And random.
It wasn't until we took the photos that I realised I looked like some american kindergartener, I could blend in very well with the cast of Matilda probably - pigtails and then i'm sorted (and if I was about 3ft shorter). The american mom style jeans (or boyfriend jeans)and shoes that I was told by my sister 'look like what I used to wear to school when I was 5' (though the cutesy-ness is toughed by the studs, couldn't wear them in year R).Today I was even told i looked cute.Wow, a first. I'm wearing just a black jumper, the check scarf was to add a bit of colour as well as preventing against the extreme cold. Summer needs to come soon!
Despite all that I actually quite like this outfit, I don't really know why.

It's probably the early morning as to why I look so unimpressed, also I just thought i'd say brightening up the atmosphere of the pictures is the wonderfully inspiring, artistic background courtesy of our lovely college. Isn't it just so happy! Well, anyway it does the trick.

Off to think happier thoughts and prepare for an exciting day tomorrow!!

Alyna:
So first day back to college after having a pretty lazy half term and i must admit , i was not looking forward to getting up at 6:30 so today i was going for more a simple  yet elegant look.

I decided to wear my vintage knitted  jumper with my black skinny jeans with my light maroon camel coat and black faux fur to achieve a feminine look and create a visual texture.
